Company Overview

Mojo Crowe is a personal development app and platform that shares the tools needed to build true
confidence and helps individuals define their version of success in a simple, structured, and practical way.

Project Background

Mojo Crowe members face a variety of challenges, each unique and requiring distinct solutions. The Mojo Crowe app is looking to develop an AI-driven solution to guide its members to find the best activities, content, or exercises to solve their challenges. The goal is to understand the challenges faced by our Mojo community and assess the viability of our concept, the Mojo Assistant, in providing personalised activities and content designed for each individual and their unique problems.

Task

Our primary objective in this project is to enhance the user experience for Mojo Crowe members.

Primary Goals:

  • Proof validating the concept of Mojo Assistant.

  • Determining the relationship between AI, app content, exercises, interventions, journaling, and mood-tracking.

  • Designing a solution for optimal AI integration with existing app features.

  • Understanding members' challenges for tailored support.

Action

Action

Step 1: Research & Exploration

Methods: Current app exploration, AI research, 1 to 1 User & non-user interview

We began the project by delving deeper into understanding the current app's information architecture (IA). Personally, I registered and tried to use the app, took some courses on it, and explored the content offered by Mojo Crowe to users. This allowed me to better grasp the content and understand the company's offerings from the user's perspective, as well as key improvements that the app needs for a better satisfactory customer experience.

Following this, we uncovered and gained deeper insights from existing user research conducted by the Mojo Crowe internal team before, using data they shared with us. Additionally, we conducted research on AI and analyzed similar industry competitors.

Next, we conducted one-on-one interviews with current users and non-users to gain deeper insights into their behavior, user goals, pain points, and potential solutions they hope exist to address their needs.

Step 2: Synthesising Challenges

Methods: Affinity mapping, Empathy mapping, User persona, Customer journey

To bring together our research findings and uncover both user and business challenges, we used affinity mapping, empathy mapping, and customer journey mapping, ensuring we thoroughly understood the needs and behaviors in this project.

Initially, we conducted research on both users and non-users to gain a broader perspective. However, as our analysis progressed, we decided to shift our focus to enhancing the experience for existing users.

Our research findings reveal the following key points:

Users Priorities:

  • Enhancing connectivity with the Mojo community

  • Ensuring comfort with data privacy

  • Facilitating easier navigation within the app

Our research revealed opportunities for improving the user experience within the Mojo app, independent of AI implementation. However, understanding the client's desire to enhance the experience further through AI implementation, we worked to find a balance between their objectives and the needs of the users, aiming to achieve mutual benefit for all stakeholders involved.

I suggest making it easier for users to find content by tracking how they feel. This way, we can recommend content that matches their mood. Doing this not only helps users find what they want but also makes them happier and more interested in the app. It's a win-win because it improves the user experience and helps the business succeed. The team agreed, and we added mood tracking to common challenges to move forward in designing solutions to overcome these shared obstacles.

Step 3: Ideation

Methods: MVP & Crazy 8's

How Might We:

  • Make the interface more adaptable and user-friendly across all devices?

  • Improve the app's functionality?

  • Enhance the app's community experience to better support users on their self-development journey?

After setting our "How Might We" statements, we organised the feedback from user interviews - User preferences and team suggestions about improving the Mojo Crowe app features. Using an impact/effort matrix, we decided which features to prioritise for the MVP design. Then, we brainstormed ideas and sketched out different concepts during the crazy 8's exercise.

Mojo Assistant Validation

The research shows that quick wins in improving the user experience could be achieved without AI implementation. However, AI could be really useful for  addressing more complex user needs. Based on these research insights, we suggest Mojo Crowe team to implement their user experience in two phases.

We have full access to the Mojo Crowe team's design system, enabling us to directly incorporate their existing components into our designs. I primarily handle the design process and take responsibility for implementing the mood tracking feature. This makes it easy to put together their design pieces with any new ideas we have.

Conclusion

Looking back on this project, I've gained valuable insights into various aspects of project management, including time management, teamwork, communication, and client relations. Working with a big team wasn't always smooth sailing, but I found that talking things out and listening to each other helped us get on the same page.

Regarding interaction with the client, towards the end of the project, we noticed a change in their goals due to some issues within their team. We made sure to really listen and understand their new needs and worries. Even with the changes, we stayed committed to supporting them as best we could. We used our research to offer helpful advice and steer their project in the right direction, given the circumstances. It showed me the importance of being flexible and keeping the client's needs in focus.

Overall, working on the Mojo Crowe project has been a great experience. While teamwork played an important role, I've realised the significance of ensuring everyone feels appreciated for their contributions. Even after project completion, I continued to refine aspects of the design on my own. It wasn't about showing off, but more about setting personal challenges to grow.

Design Refinements that I made...
What do you think?

Moving forward, I'm committed to further refining my skills and embracing opportunities for self-improvement.

Thank You!
